Traditional and Metal Free Tooth Colored Crowns
Crowns are the preferred treatment in situations where most of the original tooth has been destroyed. A crown can also be used to cover and support a tooth with a large filling, protect a weak tooth, hold a dental bridge in place, cover a dental implant or to make a cosmetic modification.
A crown replaces the exterior portion of a tooth to reestablish its original function. There are two types of crowns - traditional and metal free.
Traditional Crowns - Traditional crowns require the removal of tooth structure to allow space for the porcelain-fused-to-metal crown to fit over the damaged tooth. They are the same color as the natural tooth, and are very strong to last for years.
Metal Free Crowns - All-resin and ceramic crowns are good choices for teeth visible in the smile line and for persons sensitive to certain metals.
There are many options to restore damaged teeth. Dr. Rob will carefully help you decide which treatment is best for you.
